Hyperbole aside, this album has a lot to live up to. Two icons in their respective crowds colliding to flesh out songs Reed wrote for the play Lulu, an adaptation of stories from the German author Frank Wedekind.
This week sees a week of light August releases (typical for this time of year) but not without two albums specifically that will bring the nostalgia-joy. Various artists, including Weezer, My Morning Jacket, and OK GO, have all recorded covers of some of the more popular Muppet songs from over the years.
Tally Hall are a lighthearted band of melody-makers not yet given their proper due. They’re the kind of band that dresses up proper for a live show and delivers catchy hooks and 60s-style harmonies mixed with a cohesive flair that would have gotten them more play in the earlier half of last decade.
Look, we get it. Weezer haven’t exactly been on their A-game lately. So what about more consistent bands having their songs given that admittedly-awesome Weezer-sound?
Ghost Bunny have been kicking around the NYC rock scene for a while now under various monikers from Dead Rabbit, then to The Rabbits, and now they’ve finally settled on Ghost Bunny just in time for their latest album to hit the presses.

With the physical release of the Kanye West/Jay-Z collaboration LP Watch The Throne this week, a week after the digital release, I’ve had a whole week to let this album sit on me and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s exactly what it says it is. Nothing more, nothing less.
Famous film and television director David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) will be releasing his first full length album of Electronic-Pop music on November 8th via the Sunday Best Recordings label. Oh, also, the album is called Crazy Clown Time.
A typically slow month for new releases, August can still pull out a few surprises, including the long-in-the-works release from Tron actor Jeff Bridges, the release of the Cowboys and Aliens OST (a few weeks late IMO), and the physical release of the highly anticipated Jay-Z/Kanye love-fest Watch The Throne.
