It’s been a longstanding honor over in the UK to be the top song in Britain on Christmas Day. But in 2009, a Facebook campaign changed that, with a successful push to get “Killing In The Name Of” by Rage Against The Machine to the X-mas #1 spot.
Well this year, Brits are trying to make magic happen again and get Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” to the top spot on the 20th anniversary of Nevermind.
According to NME:
The ‘Nirvana For Christmas No. 1′ group, which has nearly 10,000 members, has been set up as a response to what they perceive as “bullying” tactics by the reality show after they named one of this year’s acts after a children’s charity and refused to change it.
