I’ll be giving away a bunch of tix for “A John Waters Christmas” Tuesday Dec 16 at the Count Basie in Red Bank on the radio sunday night, but i’m also going to give away a few pair via contesting here, we will choose random winners who can answer this question about a Christmas Song, send your answer to email@example.com and put JOHN WATERS in the header.
if you’d like to buy tix for the show go here
here’s the question: What song is this Christmas lyric from and who sang it:
“I’m sick of ur stoopid tradition, so I’ve run off to Spain with a elf”
send your answers to firstname.lastname@example.org
7 years ago, 11/9/08 at 9pm on 101.9 FM, WRXP, Anything Anything debuted, people doubted it would last 6 weeks, let alone 7 Years. It’s an honor and pleasure to do this show and I will continue to bring you the best in FREE FORM for as long as I can.
thanks to Dan Halyburton and Leslie Fram for believing in me and giving a guy who had never been on commercial radio before an unbelievable opportunity. thanks to Chris Herrmann of the Peak and to Dan Finn, Curtis Kay and Carl Craft of Greater Media NJ, for keeping the show alive as well as Dave Kolesar at the GAMUT, Gary Zenobi and Lenny Diana at Lazer 99.3; and Don Harrison at 94.3 the Shark!
so here is that Debut episode of Anything Anything, I sound nervous then, and probably still sound nervous every time i open the Mic.
thanks for all of your support
Jim James of My Morning Jacket calls into Anything Anything..
On 9/4 at Starland Ballroom, Social Distortion will help me celebrate my 6th anniversary on the radio! It’s an honor to not only have one of my favorite bands play but one that is so influential. Social Distortion has been kind enough to offer this special opportunity:
Watch the Soundcheck!
meet the band!
1 pre-show signed set list!
and get a prize pack from the merch table that includes:
1 vinyl lp
1 button pack, or sticker pack
How cool is this!!!
We will choose 2 random winners for this, each winner gets to bring a guest who gets to join for the soundcheck and meet and greet but only one prize pack per winner (so sort that out amongst yourselves)
DISCLAIMER: Since this involves entering the venue, you and your guest must each already have a ticket! So in essence this is a Ticket Upgrade Opportunity. The Drawings will happen on September 1, so you will need to have purchased your show ticket by August 31st. Here’s the link to buy tix
We will do two separate contests for this, and since i’m on multiple radio stations across different time slots, i feel it’s unfair to try to do call ins etc, since there are less prizes than stations.
So for contest #1, it’s pretty simplistic, just email to Rich@richrusso.net, put SOCIAL D Soundcheck in the header, attach your ticket receipt, and through a random email address generator, one lucky email will be chosen and that’s the winner. Simple as that. ODDS of Winning are based on the number of emails received. You may only enter once, duplicate email addresses will be disqualified.
Perhaps those odds seem high? Here’s contest #2, which has some better odds, same prize, and you are able to be entered in both contests. This one however requires a pre-purchase of the limited edition silkscreened show poster, there will be 100 of these signed and numbered by artist Julie Finn, they will be sold for $15 each, and I will make no more than 50 available for this contest, meaning you have a 1 in 50 chance of winning, and no matter what you’ll have the poster in advance, and it will be rolled and tubed for you at the show to pick up. If you are interested in this opportunity, you need to send me an email at email@example.com put SOCIAL D POSTER in the header, attach your ticket receipt and you will be then notified on how to pay for the poster, the drawing will happen for this on September 1. You can see the poster below. the size is 12.5 x 19
